Heaven Can Wait

Heaven Can Wait marks my post grad Nashville debut, and what a fun one it was!

Circle Players is the oldest community theater in Nashville, and Heaven Can Wait is actually the first play they ever produced. It was such a full circle moment to be able to perform that same show 75 years later. I played Julia Farnsworth, the rich and murderous wife of the financer Jonathan Farsworth, whose body is soon occupied by the good hearted boxer Joe Pendleton.

I performed alongside a stacked cast of comedic actors, and learned so much from them onstage every night. Diego Gomez’s direction brought this 1940s comedy to life – he found the humor in each beat and drew out the strengths of the actors. Playing a cold hearted woman who cared for no one but herself (and maybe her lover, jury’s still out on that one) was a refreshing change for me, and there’s nothing quite like toting around a massive fur coat to get me in character.
